By outward features the Caspian Sea (early Slavs called it the Khvalynskoe Sea) is a basinal lake and the biggest water in the world isolated from the Global Ocean. Its level is lower than the Baltic Sea approximately for 27 m. The Caspian Sea washes 5 countries: Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran. It is famous for sturgeons, oil and gas reserves.
